Tulare County CCW *RENEWAL* 4 hour Class – Classroom and Shooting Instruction

This is an renewal CCW permit class for Tulare County residents. Course includes CCW lesson plan, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office live fire requirements and AB 2103 compliance. Course covers the 5 principles of the law of self defense, defense of others & property, interacting with law enforcement and the legal responsibility of carrying a concealed weapon. You will receive firearms Instruction and safety certificate required to complete your renewal application process.           Equipment needed: 

  • Handgun/s (each firearm you wish to put on your CCW)
  • Extra magazine
  • 50 rounds of ammunition
  • In addition to your 50 rounds you will need 10 rounds of ammunition for each firearm you wish to put onto your CCW
  • Eye and ear protection

Tulare County CCW *Initial* 8 hour Class – Classroom and Shooting Instruction

This is an Initial CCW permit class for Tulare County residents. Course covers the 5 principles of the law of self defense, defense of others & property, interacting with law enforcement and the legal responsibility of carrying a concealed weapon. Basic understanding and concept of drawing your firearm from retention and engaging your target. You will receive extensive firearms instruction with an emphasis on malfunction clearing, target acquisition, loading/unloading and threat no threat scenarios. Please bring extra ammunition for each firearm you would like to place on your initial CCW application. 

    • Equipment Needed:

    • Handgun/s (each firearm you wish to put on your CCW)
    • Outside the waist holster
    • Extra magazine
    • 250 rounds of ammunition
    • In addition to your 250 rounds you will need 10 rounds of ammunition for each firearm you wish to put onto your CCW
    • Eye and ear protection
    • NO BLACKHAWK HOLSTERS ALLOWED

CCW Firearm Add-On (Permit Modification)

Need to add a new firearm to your current CCW Permit? Select a date to visit Rankin Field and Qualify with the firearm(s) you are adding to your permit. This appointment meets the standardized course of fire guidelines in compliance with TULARE COUNTY and AB2013 Standards. Keep in mind if you are adding a firearm and your permit was ISSUED BEFORE September 28, 2018 you are now required to qualify with EACH and ALL the firearms you wish to have on your permit. Any permits issued after the date you are only required to qualify with the firearm you are adding.

 

 


Adult & Pediatric CPR/ First Aid/ AED

This course will prepare you to recognize & care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Select a date and register to reserve your seat!

 


 

Youth Group – Classroom and Shooting Instruction

This basic rifle class will help new and experienced shooters with six fundamental elements of rifle shooting—aiming (sight alignment), focus, trigger control, breath control, hold control and follow through. This class is free and made available to you from the NRA Grant Foundation in conjunction with Rankin Field Weapons Range.

NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home Class

This eight hour course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family. In addition, this course provides information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. Class meets the firearms safety course requirements for a Tulare County Concealed Weapons (CCW) Permit.

Students should expect to shoot approximately 100-150 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, shooting from cover, point shooting, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. NRA Guide “Basics of Personal Protection In The Home” handbook, NRA “Gun Safety Rules” brochure, Winchester/NRA “Marksmanship Qualification” booklet, and Course Completion Certificate.

This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law. Attendees must be experienced shooters (able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
